This guide will help you find the resources available in the Robert J. Kibbee Library Archives. Please contact the Archives Librarian in L207 (or extension 5354) with any further questions or comments.

Robert J. Kibbee Library Archives


The Archives are located on the second floor (Room L214) of the Robert J. Kibbee Library. The Archives contain valuable primary source materials dating to Kingsborough's founding in 1964, including photographs, documents, correspondence, yearbooks and course catalogs. The archives also store newspapers, magazines, and other historic items relevant to the Robert J. Kibbee Library, Kingsborough Community College, the Brooklyn community, and the New York area. The collections within the Archives are noncirculating but are available to students, staff, faculty and independent researchers by appointment only. If you want further information on any of these items, please contact the Archives Librarian at extension 5430

  • Library HistoryThe library at Kingsborough Community College has been an integral part of the school since its founding in 1964. One of the purposes of the Archives is to document the history of the Robert J. Kibbee Library and the librarians who have worked here. On this page you can find a table with information on exactly what library history materials can be found in the Archives.
  • KBCC HistoryThe majority of the Library Archives is devoted to documenting the history of Kingsborough Community College since its founding in 1964. Sorting the many years of archival materials into detailed and indexed categories is an ongoing project still in its early stages. On this page you can find a table with information on exactly what materials on the history of Kingsborough can be found in the Archives. Separate collections donated to the Archives can also be found below, or in the dropdown menu on the KBCC History tab. 
  • Student PublicationsSince the 1960s Kingsborough students have been publishing their work in a variety of publications, from the student newspaper, The Scepter, to a number of different literary outlets such as the Antheon, to the yearbook, The Odyssey. The Kingsborough Archives stores a number of these publications and is in the process of archiving them digitally. Click below for further information about several different publications.
  • Community HistoryThe Kingsborough Library Archives also contains a number of items of interest to those researching local Brooklyn history. A brief inventory of the collection is listed on this page, with detailed inventories of particular collections listed below.
