Criminal Justice: Databases

Tips for Searching

A productive database search depends on the accuracy of your keywords.

  • What is your topic is about?

  • Write it down and see which of the words are the most relevant.

  • Remember, using AND will narrow your search, while using OR will expand it.

  • Take advantage of all of the search options on the database's search page.

  • Refine your search by date, type of document or full-text.

  • Look on the left-hand side of the screen for "Subject." Click on it,
and find different search terms for your topic.
