Textbooks and E-textbooks

  • Find out how to access print textbooks from the textbook reserve collection here.

  • As an alternative, check OneSearch to see if an electronic copy is available.

  • If OneSearch does not have the book, try the sources listed below.

  • Please note that your tuition does not cover the cost of textbooks.

Finding Your Textbook

Don't know the exact title of your textbook?

Many students do not know the title of their textbook. In order to find out whether or not the library has a copy, you'll need to know the title (and author, if possible). Here's where you can find this information:

  • Your class syllabus.
  • Blackboard
  • The Kingsborough bookstore website.  Under the "Books" tab on the far left side, you can select the option "Textbooks & Course Materials." From this page you can select the correct semester, department, course and section number from the dropdown list.

Know the exact title of your textbook?

You can usually find textbooks simply by using OneSearch. If you can't find the right book, try checking E-Reserves for your courses or instructors. E-reserves usually provides digital copies of required texts and/or other readings from select classes.

The Reserve Collection

Find out how to access print textbooks from the textbook reserve collection here.

The "Reserve" (or Textbook) collection is a set of books that are kept behind the circulation desk. These books are in high demand, because they are or have been used as textbooks for Kingsborough classes. Due to the pandemic, KBCC is allowing students with ID cards to check these books out for up to 7 days. You may, during this time, leave the library with Reserve books.

Textbooks in the Stacks

The Robert J. Kibbee Library occasionally has textbooks that you can check out and bring home with you. Generally, these are older editions of the textbooks currently being used by your class. These might contain minor or major differences from the version currently in use, so please be sure to check with your professor or compare the books to make sure you aren't missing anything.

To find textbooks you can check out, search by title/author in our OneSearch system, and scroll down to find an older edition of your textbook.
