An abstract is a self-contained, short statement that describes a larger work. Therefore, abstracts should contain keywords and phrases that allow for easy searching. Students should select an article and describe the contents in a short statement.

Searching for information is often nonlinear and iterative, requiring the evaluation of a range of information sources and the mental flexibility to pursue alternate avenues as new understanding develops.
